Solar overload or at least maxed out

The other day was the first day our solar hot water system hit its max temp.  With only the power of sun, we heated our hot water tank to just over 180 degrees.  In addition our solar electric system created over 7Kw of power.

In all the confusion about solar there is one thing that is a pure and simple fact....

If you have the southern exposure.....

Solar domestic hot water is worth every penny spent.  Period.

If the federal or state government wanted to really stimulate the economy they should have subsidized a domestic hot water system for every house or business.  Here are the numbers.

Number of households = 111,162,259
Assume 25% have southern exposure = 55,581,129
Assume $6000 for cost of solar = $167 Billion

Stimulus package was $787 Billion

For 21% of what they used to bail out banks, wall street and the automakers we could have had solar domestic hot water on 1/4 of all households in the USA.

In addition the number of manufacturing, installation and service jobs would have been huge.

All this with technology we have today and that we used on our house.

We should have more data soon and are looking forward to our first electric credit.
